Tha Win earned his law degree in 1987 from the University of California Los Angeles after completing his bachelor’s degree at Pitzer College in Claremont California. Currently, he serves on the board of directors of Washington Protection and Advocacy Systems, a statewide advocacy organization for people with disabilities. He is also featured on the Washington State Bar Association’s Proud To Be A Lawyer list. In 1998, Tha co-founded the Seattle Community Law Center and the Social Security Advocacy Project, serving as executive director and staff attorney. At the Social Security Advocacy Project, he represented hundreds of individual clients at Social Security hearings and provided training for consumers and organizations, including the King County Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, Harborview Medical Center, Downtown Emergency Services Center, University of Washington Physicians, the Salvation Army and many others. He is one of a few Washington state attorneys invited to testify before the national Social Security Advisory Board.
